I saw this article last year. This is why I became so intrigued with Pleasant Company. I admire this woman so much. What a great role model she is not only for young women but for the older set. It's never too late! You can try and accomplish whatever you want. There are so many positive role models out there. Sometimes it is even easier to reach your dreams when the kids are grown and out of the house.

    Thank you Pleasant Rowland!

I seen this article too. But everytime I read it what shocks me is 700 million dollors and why sell it to mattel? This bothers me a great deal.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Simple. She thought she had a kindred spirit in the CEO of Mattel, who was subsequently sacked by the Board of Directors and replaced with a cheese marketing executive from Kraft.

Very Inspiring article! Thanks for posting it.

Why sell to Mattel? I think that for entrepreneurs, the fun and challenge is in the building of the business. Once the business is huge, it becomes a huge and stressful pain. As a breast cancer survivor, maybe she felt that she needed to take care of her health and let someone else deal with all the business headaches.
